Erin currently serves as the Early Years and Primary School Principal at Panyaden International School in Thailand.
Erin holds a Certificate in School Leadership from Harvard Business School and Graduate School of Education, as well as a Master’s in Education from Pace University.
Her previous leadership roles include Assistant Principal and PYP Coordinator at the International School of Lausanne, as well as Director of Service Learning at the United Nations International School. Erin has worked in international education across Ghana, Togo, South Korea, Bali, Switzerland, the USA, and Thailand.
In this feature, read about Erin’s passion for education, commitment to fostering global citizenship, and how her diverse experiences — both personal and professional — shape her approach to education and leadership.
What drew you to pursue the world of education? And what drew you into international education specifically?
I have always been passionate about creating quality educational programs that not only enrich student learning but also empower teachers to grow in their craft. I firmly believe that education is a powerful tool for change, and when it is rooted in high standards and character development, it shapes global citizens who are equipped to make a meaningful impact in the world.
What drew me to international education is the opportunity to connect with diverse perspectives and cultures, fostering a shared understanding and respect among students, teachers, and communities. Over the past two decades, I have been refining my vision of a “dream school” — a place where decisions are made with the learner at the center. In this space, children develop the Habits for Happiness, grow as active agents of change, and learn the skills to thrive personally and globally.
Education is not just a career for me; it is a lifelong mission to create spaces where all stakeholders — students, teachers, and families — can thrive and grow together.

Shekou International School (SIS)
Congratulations on your upcoming role at Shekou International School! What are you excited about in this new role?
I am excited about this new role because it presents the opportunity to contribute to a school that already excels in providing an enriching and supportive environment for both students and staff. I’m passionate about fostering a community where students can continue to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, and where teachers are supported to innovate and grow in their practice.
My hope is to continue building on the strong foundation already in place, deepening the collaborative spirit, nurturing a culture of care, and ensuring that everyone feels empowered to contribute to the school’s continued success. I look forward to being part of a community where each individual’s growth is valued, and together, we can continue to provide a space where everyone feels they belong.
Please tell us about your education philosophy and your leadership style. What can the SIS community expect?
I believe schools build a better world when learning is rooted in well-being. Children thrive when they explore their interests, exercise agency, and develop the confidence and character to contribute meaningfully. Adults must model curiosity, collaboration, and reflection.
As a leader, I create a culture of care, accountability, and excellence. I empower teachers, nurture innovation, and strengthen family partnerships to foster a sense of belonging. The SIS community can expect a collaborative, visionary leader who listens, engages, and works alongside them to create an inclusive, inquiry-driven environment where students and educators feel supported, inspired, and safe to grow.

What was your experience with ISS Leadership Search like?
ISS was great! Supportive, caring, and professional throughout the process. I felt confident that they were not only helping me find a good match but also looking for a great fit for the schools they represented. Their dedication and attention to detail made all the difference
What is an interesting fact or story about you that you would like to share?
An interesting fact about me is that my work on a refugee camp in Ghana, West Africa, profoundly shaped my passion for happiness in education. Inspired by the resilience and wisdom of the people I worked with, I was moved to conduct extensive research on happiness and well-being. This journey has led to my Happiness 101 endeavour, through which I strive to nurture a sense of well-being in others.
Beyond my professional interests, I have a deep passion for travel, interior design, and gardening, each offering me unique ways to explore creativity and mindfulness. Most importantly, being a mother to my son, Edem, has been a transformative experience. His presence and the lessons of mothering him have shaped my perspective on life and work, reminding me daily of the importance of connection, growth, and love.
