Meet the Presenters

Keisha La Beach, EAL Coordinator, NCIC Immersion School
Teaching online since February 2020
Keisha La Beach has spent 15 of her 21 years as an educator working in international schools and has dedicated the last 9 years to collaborating with students, teachers, parents, and administrators in support of multilingual learners. She currently serves as EAL Coordinator and member of the leadership team at NCIC Immersion, a dual language immersion school in ShenZhen, China. Keisha has held multiple positions at the International School of Dongguan and the American International School of Kingston, but her teaching career started in Kingston, Jamaica at a private preparatory school. She believes in the power of collaboration and has recently taken on a new role as EAL Coalition Coordinator for 3 ISS-ULink.

John Mikton, Head of Education and Media Technology, International School of Luxembourg
John is Head of Education and Media Technology/ Deputy Principal at the International School of Luxembourg. He is also a Trainer at the Principal Training Center; Learning2 Community Coach; Trainer at the Institut de formation de l’Éducation nationale du Luxembourg; Appsevents presenter; Certified Google Trainer; and Apple Distinguished Educator.

Paola Ortiz, 5th Grade Teacher, Cayman International School
Teaching online since March 2020
Paola has been an elementary teacher for more than 20 years across different grades. She has taught in 4 different international schools in 3 countries. Paola enjoys researching the educational field and designing project based learning. She uses best teaching practices for differentiated instruction. She is certified in Reading & Writing Workshops, a Destination Imagination Coach and a TRIBES teacher. Paola believes in the power of education to build lifelong learners. In her classroom, students are engaged in centers, inquiry, workshops, cooperative learning, and the use of technology in the classroom.

Jessica Phillips, 1st Grade Teacher and Team Leader, American International School of Guangzhou
Teaching online since February 2020
Jessica Phillips has been a teacher for 10 years both in the US and in various international schools across the globe. She has taught 4th, 2nd, and 1st grades and is currently the lead teacher of 1st grade at the American International School of Guangzhou, China. Jessica is an ISTE Certified Educator, COETAIL alumni, Seesaw Ambassador, Apple Teacher with Swift Playgrounds recognition, and a Microsoft Innovative Educator. A big focus in her classroom is tapping into students’ natural curiosity and keeping learning fun!

Dave Sheppard, Learning Innovation Coach, Shekou International School
Teaching online since February 2020
After more than a decade as a primary classroom teacher in the US and abroad, David Sheppard is currently a Learning Innovation coach at Shekou International School in Shenzhen, China. He is a TEDx event organizer, Seesaw Ambassador, Apple Teacher, and Microsoft Innovative Educator. He encourages students to break things.
