A Global Community Focused on Leadership, Equity, and Change

The Diversity Collaborative is committed to creating and sustaining a more diverse, inclusive, equitable, and just international school community through its focus on leadership.

First established in 2017 with 17 founding members, the Diversity Collaborative has grown into a global community of more than 1,000 members. Its work supports international schools and associated organizations as they examine leadership representation, recruitment practices, power, access, and the systems that shape opportunity.

At its core, the Diversity Collaborative recognizes that diversity without equity, inclusion, and justice is not enough. The work is about building stronger leadership pathways, developing equity-minded stakeholders, promoting inclusive environments, and supporting long-term change across international education.

Why the Diversity Collaborative Matters

International school leadership shapes school culture, hiring practices, governance, student experience, community trust, and long-term institutional direction. When leadership does not reflect the diversity of global school communities, schools miss important perspectives, lived experiences, and opportunities for more inclusive decision-making.

The Diversity Collaborative challenges leaders, schools, and associated organizations to address the absence of diverse leadership in formal leadership positions, while also recognizing that anyone in a school community can demonstrate leadership by serving as an agent of change.

Through research, leadership development, advocacy, member learning, and resource sharing, the Diversity Collaborative supports international schools as they critically reflect, develop equity-minded practices, and strengthen systems for more inclusive leadership.
