What if leadership recruitment in international schools was not just a process—but an intentional, sustained practice?
The Diversity Collaborative invites you to our upcoming community session focused on creating and sustaining leadership recruitment pipelines. This conversation centers on recruitment not as a hiring season or placement process, but as an ongoing leadership responsibility—one that includes how we identify, nurture, invite, prepare, support, and sustain leaders over time.
Across international schools, leadership recruitment often reflects longstanding patterns of visibility, access, sponsorship, and professional networks. While these systems have shaped how leaders emerge, they may also unintentionally limit who is seen, supported, and invited into leadership. Too often, recruitment relies on familiarity, formal titles, or narrow definitions of readiness, rather than recognizing the full range of competencies, experiences, and leadership potential that candidates bring across their broader career journeys.
This session invites us to examine what becomes possible when recruitment is approached more intentionally and expansively. It calls us to consider how we design systems that build leadership communities grounded in sponsorship, mentorship, and coaching, and how we sustain those communities through affinity spaces and ongoing leadership development networks. It also challenges us to strengthen continuous anti-bias and inclusive learning for recruiters, leadership teams, and boards, recognizing the role these groups play in shaping access and opportunity.
Reimagining recruitment also means broadening how candidates are identified and invited into leadership. It asks us to look beyond internal networks and familiar pathways, and to rethink how we define leadership readiness—moving beyond titles to better recognize competencies across diverse experiences and contributions.
This Diversity Collaborative meeting will feature a panel dialogue moderated by Dr. Jennifer Beckwith. We will be joined by our Ignite Speakers: Kalimah Fergus-Ayele, Madeleine Maceda Heide, and Pauline O’Brien
