Ambatovy International School (AIS) opened its doors on September 15, 2011 to provide an internationally competitive education for the children of senior managers involved in a multi-national nickel mining and processing project in Tamatave, Madagascar. Initial enrollment was twenty-one students in Pre-Kindergarten (PK) through Grade 10. The student body currently numbers thirty-three and spans PK through Grade 12; the first graduation was celebrated in June 2014.
AIS is an independent day school sponsored by the multi-national corporate partners of the Ambatovy Project. Accredited by Middle States Association, AIS is licensed to operate as a private independent school serving PK through Grade 12 by the Malagasy National Office of Private Education and the Malagasy National Ministry of Education. Oversight governance and decisions regarding school policy rest with the Ambatovy HR Department. International Schools Services (ISS) provides educational management.
