Type of School: Ruamrudee International School is a privately owned Preschool-12 co-educational school offering an enhanced internationalized American curriculum as well as an International Baccalaureate program for students in grades eleven and twelve. It is a college preparatory school with 100% of graduates attending university last year. With over 58 years of service, it is one of the oldest, best known schools in the Kingdom. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) extended its accreditation until June 30, 2015 to the entire system of education from Preschool and Kindergarten to Grade 12. The Thai Ministry of Education also accredits the school.
Organizational/Governing Structure: RIS is comprised of three sections: elementary, middle, and high school, each administered by a section principal and assistant principal. The School Director is the chief school administrator responsible for the overall operation of the school. He is a priest and also serves as the licensee. A Redemptorist also serves as the licensee. The Head of School is responsible for all academic programs and the School Manager oversees all financial issues and facilities upkeep.
Students Served: RIS currently serves 1,248 students in Preschool-12th grade. The high school has the largest 12th grade class of any international high school in Thailand. The students who attend RIS are predominately Thai (78%) followed by Indian (9%), Korean (4%), Taiwanese (3%), Japanese (4%), and American (5%).
Faculty: In the 2014-2015 academic year, RIS employed 167+ faculty including, 3 principals, 3 vice- principals, a Director of Curriculum, and a Director of Pupil Services. All faculty members are certified and hold a minimum of a B.A. degree and pertinent teaching/administrative licenses. Over 70% of faculty hold advanced degrees, with 8 possessing doctorates. The faculty consists predominately of Americans, British, Canadians, Australians, and Asians.
