a Professional File with ISS/Application Forms

Additional Recruitment Information

  • Teaching teams (or teaching/administrative teams) are welcomed.
  • Candidates should consider at least two large geographic areas (e.g. continents) for recruitment.
  • Candidates with more than three non-teaching dependents may have limited opportunities.
  • Profile preferences for administrative positions may include teaching experience, current administrative experience, graduate degree in curriculum and/or administration, and overseas experience.
Recent Graduates

If you are a recent graduate or are about to graduate with a degree in education, you can apply to become a candidate with International Schools Services. ISS will now screen candidates that hold a degree in education with certification that are looking to teach overseas.

Because you will be graduating, your file status will depend on ISS receiving the following documents:

  1. Official copy of your transcripts from your university up until this semester (official copy of your transcript with degree awarded will be required upon graduation).
  2. Letter of recommendation from your university advisor (on school letterhead).
  3. Letter of recommendation from your mentor teacher/supervising teacher with whom you did your student teaching.

If you have not completed your student teaching/practicum as of yet, we will need a letter from your advisor stating that you will complete your student teaching/practicum this year. Once you have completed your student teaching/practicum, then we will need the letter of recommendation from your mentor teacher. We will need a copy of your teaching credential once you have completed the application with your state.

Please know that you must have a teaching credential from a state in the United States in order to qualify for a job overseas. The schools need this documentation to successfully obtain the appropriate visas. Even though we will not need it to make you an active candidate, this is a vital part of successfully obtaining a job overseas.

Your file will remain in INACTIVE status until we receive the letter from your university advisor as well as your transcripts. We need both documents to make you an ACTIVE candidate. Once you have become an ACTIVE candidate you will have access to our vacancy website and IRC registration forms.

If you will be completing your student teaching/practicum in the fall, and will have had actual classroom experience, we encourage you to attend our conferences in January and February. If you will be completing the student teaching/practicum in the spring, then we advise you to attend the summer conference where we find that newer teachers have more success.
