ISS Schools

ISS develops and manages schools in countries around the world.  The schools strive for excellence by offering quality learning and teaching opportunities, resources, staff development, and facilities.  Teachers who become part of the ISS schools network are able to take advantage of a number of additional benefits not available to teachers in non-ISS related schools.  Teachers and Administrators are able to move to ISS schools in various parts of the world when there is a suitable vacancy.  When returning to an ISS recruitment fair all fees are waived for ISS teachers.  ISS Senior Staff are also very proactive in supporting ISS teachers when they begin a new job search.

ISA celebrated its 75th anniversary last year while enjoying an enhanced new campus located in the heart of the island. This Pre School through Grade 12 school is a SACS accredited college preparatory program with graduates attending colleges in Europe and North America.

The Riffa Views International School is currently being developed in a new residential area on the Island of Bahrain. The newly constructed campus will be completed in June of 2008 and will open to students in grades K – 5 in the fall of 2008 and will expand in phases to a grade K – 12 school. In addition to a strong academic program, the school will offer strong programs in technology, athletics and the arts. The Boris Becker tennis academy will be located on the school grounds while an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Colin Montgomerie is located within the residential development.

Dalian American International School (DAIS) opened in 2006. Currently a K-8 school, the school has a vision of becoming a 3 yr. old through grade 12 school. DAIS is located in the Golden Pebble Beach Resort near the Dalian Development Area. The school has been created to meet the needs of the increasingly multinational expatriate population living in Dalian due to the increase in foreign companies locating production facilities in the Development Area.

The Ahafo International School is a new school being developed and managed by ISS in Ghana. The school is currently operating in a villa but will move to a new facility by December of 2007. The K-8 school is located in a rural area of Ghana, about an hours flight from the capital Accra. The students are the children of expatriate and Ghanaian employees of a multi-national mining company.

The ISS-managed Sumatra International Schools are located on the Island of Sumatra and have been managed by ISS for more than 20 years. These pre-school through grade 8 schools are located on sites specifically built to support their operations. Each site consists of a small company town complete with housing, a commissary and recreation center inclusive of a golf course and medical facilities. Living on these sites is comfortable and safe. The schools are well established and equipped and provide an excellent education for the children they serve.

The Dostyk American International School is operated for Expat children living in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. Located on the border of Europe and Asia, Atyrau is located in one of the most rapidly developing regions in central Asia. The modern school building is well supplied and equipped in support of an excellent educational program. The teachers live in comfortable housing on the compound where the school is located.

A new school will open in a renovated villa in Pointe-Noire, Congo, in August/September 2008. Congo is not the same country as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and is located between the DRC and Gabon on the west coast of Africa. Pointe-Noire is a coastal town and has an international airport and seaport. The school will open with from 5 to 15 students in the age range of from 5 years to 10 years old. ISS is developing and managing this school for several multi-national companies that are moving to this rapidly developing region. An adventureous teaching couple is sought to teach these students using mostly American and other English language teaching material provided by ISS. Flexibility and adaptability are essential. This is a newly developing region by Western standards. While the housing that is provided is very comfortable, the successful candidates must be able to enjoy life in a developing country where the goods and services are not what we have become accustomed to in Western society.

Asia’s newest and most modern international school – International School Songdo - will provide an outstanding education from kindergarten through high school. We are committed to each child achieving his or her academic potential. The proposed curriculum at the elementary, middle and secondary school levels is based on standards that emphasize high expectations and promotes international perspectives. This approach will prepare students for entry into leading post-secondary institutions around the world.

While the school will open to students in August of 2009, candidates are sought for a Planning and Development Team that will work on-site for one year in advance of the opening of the school. This team will operate under the supervision of a Superintendent and in conjunction with ISS which will manage the school.
