If, after reading the Qualifications for Establishing a Professional File with ISS, you meet the basic requirements and wish to apply, please answer the following questions to determine if you meet our minimum acceptance criteria before proceeding to complete the application form. 1. Have you earned a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution?
If yes, proceed to question #2.
If no, please be aware that ISS will be unable to accept you as a candidate.
2. Do you have teaching or administrative experience in a public or private elementary or secondary school?
If yes, proceed to question #3.
If no, please be aware that two years of current, full-time experience is beneficial. Schools look for candidates with full-time experience, however, many schools will consider new teacher candidates.
3. If you wish to be considered for a position as counselor, specialist, department head or administrator, do you have an advanced (Master's) degree?
If yes, proceed to question #4.
If no, please be aware that an advanced degree is required for these
positions.
4. Do you possess educational certification issued by the department of education in your state or province?
If yes, proceed to question #5.
If no, please be aware that many of the schools for which ISS recruits may ask for certification.
5. Will you be traveling overseas alone?
If yes, proceed to question #6.
If no, please be aware that an overseas salary may not support a family with more than three dependants. As well as limitations in available housing, schools sometimes cannot consider candidates with three or more non-teaching dependants.
6. Are you able to commit to a minimum of a two-year stay overseas?
If yes, proceed to question 7.
If no, please be aware that overseas contracts are typically for two years.
7. Are you willing to consider positions in at least two large continental areas?
If yes, please proceed to the section below.
If no, ISS advises that a focus on only one geographical area may result in a limited number of interviews.
If you have reviewed all the above questions, and it appears that you meet our basic acceptance criteria for candidates, please proceed to complete the Candidate Application Form. However, please be aware that ISS is unable to guarantee your acceptance as a candidate before reviewing your fully completed application. If you answered no to any one of the above questions, it is possible that you will not be accepted as an ISS candidate.
